Who's building this, and why.


The short version

Ruinkeep is an iOS empire strategy game in the tradition of Promisance — month-long rounds, turn-based economy, market manipulation, war and magic and betrayal, mostly measured in numbers. It is built by a very small team with a lot of opinions about how strategy games should feel.

Why we're building it

Because there isn't a good modern successor to browser empire games, and the mobile strategy market has been overwhelmed by either gacha pulls or real-time-tactical clones. The game we want to play doesn't really exist on the App Store. So we're making it.

We think the things that made Promisance memorable — asynchronous time pressure, a small persistent world, consequence-heavy decisions, a real market with real rivals — translate cleanly onto a phone with push notifications. Maybe better than they did on a browser.

What we're not doing

  • Gacha / pay-to-win. The game is free to play. Currency buys cosmetics, not power.
  • Account walls. Play without a social login. Your empire is your identity.
  • Engagement dark patterns. You can walk away for a day and come back. The game is designed to respect your attention.
